My teachers described my talent as noise making— Mr. Drew reveals
Reigning new artiste of the year at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Mr. Drew has revealed that he used to be caned in school for practicing his talent in class.
The musician disclosed that he was one of the noise makers and never escaped names of pupils who disturbed in class.
Speaking in an interview with the media, the “later” hitmaker indicated that he used to drum, sing and dance in class to entertain his peers.
He said although the pupils at his former school, Good Shepherd loved his act in class and even cheered him on to do more but once a teacher arrived in class and asked of the person making the noise his name was mentioned.
Mr. Drew stated that he was constantly caned due to his talent till he grew up to become a professional dance before venturing into music.
As a dancer, he said he danced for top class musicians and at prominent events in and across the country.
Touching on his award at the VGMA, Mr. Drew noted that he put lots of efforts into his craft and thanked fans and music lovers who voted and supported him even when he rebranded from a professional dancer to concentrate on music.
He said he thought it would be difficult for people to accept him as a musician but highly spiritual trained him well to craft commercial music which made it easy for him to sail through the industry.
Known in private life as Andrews Nii Commey Otoo he has been criticised harshly in the industry for songs theft.
His “This Year” “Eat” faced massive uproar on social media last year which led YouTube to ban the “Eat” track which the critics said he sampled the rhythm from Nigerian musician.
Aside this he got mouth agape after he won the New artiste of the Year beating the competition of Jackie, Yaw Tog, Amerado among others at the 22nd VGMA.
