Ghana records 700 positive cases daily— Akufo-Addo reveals

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed that Ghana’s infection has seen an upsurge from 200 daily positive cases to 700 daily positive cases.

That, according to him was alarming and needed more pragmatic measures to contain its spread.

Addressing the country in Accra on Sunday on measure adopted by the government to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus President Akufo-Addo disclosed that the country is currently averaging about 700 new infections daily and expressed concern about how “hospitals have become full.”

He expressed an urgent need for the country to “reactivate our isolation centres.”

“Our average daily rates of infection now stand at 700, compared to 200 two weeks ago. The total number of active cases has more than doubled, from a little over 1,900, two weeks ago, to 5,358 currently,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo further revealed that “hospitalisation rates are increasing, with the number of critically and severely ill persons now at 172.”

Currently, all regions across the country have recorded active case of the novel coronavirus with 416 persons dead so far.

Ghana now has 5,358 active cases with “the number of critically and severely ill persons now at 172.”

Announcing the reinstatement of some restriction, he urged the citizenry to ensure compliance with all health protocols while the government does its bid to stem out the spread of the virus.
