NPP promises to set up musical studio to enhance the career path of musicians when re-elected

The ruling government, New Patriotic Party (NPP) has factored the cry of musicians as they promised to build three recording musical studios in the country when re-elected into power.

According to the party, many artists have been crying for national recording studio with ultramodern facilities to enhance the sound of their music.

It could be recalled that some musicians have bemoaned that lots of studios in the country did not have the right technologies to master their music thus affect its quality.

However, during the NPP’s 2020 manifesto launch on Saturday at Cape Coast in the central region, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia disclosed that government was working around the clock to enhance the creative art industry.

He said his outfit had observed that musicians were national asserts who have promoted the country’s art to the foreign world to set  Ghana on the map.

Dr  Bawumia explained that the three recording music studios would  be built in Kumasi, Accra, Tema and Takoradi.

He maintained that the country is endowed with talented musicians who lacked quality facilities to harness their talents.

“We see the creative arts as a major growth pole, it has so much talent, the problem is access to studio. As a result, we will set up large recording studios in Accra, Tema, Takoradi and Kumasi, for recording artistes to rent,” Dr Bawumia added.

Nana Adjoa Adobea Asante, the Acting Director of the National Folklore Board assured the government preparedness to enforce stringent laws in ensuring the copyright issue facing the creative art industry is resolved.

She further indicated that the NPP would facilitate the construction of a theatre in Koforidua as well as Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale.

“We will pursue the construction of modern large seating theatres in every regional capital except Accra, beginning with Takoradi, Tamale, and Kumasi, as well as setting up an additional Copyright Office in Tamale to cater for the northern sector in addition to the existing ones in Accra and Kumasi,” Nana Adjoa Adobea added.

She revealed that the Creative Arts Bill which is at its final stages would soon be passed into law to serve as a legal framework for activities of creatives in Ghana.
